Sexual Addiction Recovery

At A1 Alliance Counseling Services, we offer a comprehensive recovery program specifically designed to help with sexual addiction issues for males (ages 18+). A female group experience can be made available (for females struggling with sexual addiction) as necessary. Individual and group support for spouses of the Client is also available upon request as spouses often have unanswered questions and concerns requiring therapeutic intervention (See Service Page for Betrayal Trauma on our website).

We utilize IITAP’s (International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals) “30 Task Model”, which has been researched and developed by Patrick Carnes’ over many years. This model has proven to be vital in healing the brain and improving relationships impacted by sexual addiction. Research has demonstrated that group therapy tends to be best practice in addiction recovery, and clients entering our program are required to be a part of the SAGE 1 group experience.

Patrick Carnes 30 Task Model

Sexual Addiction Group Education (SAGE 1) is a 20-week group designed specifically to address sexual addiction issues in adult males (ages 18+). Those who successfully complete the SAGE 1 group are given the opportunity to attend an advanced (SAGE 2) group if they desire. SAGE 2 provides a more advanced and in-depth experience toward maintaining sexual sobriety over time. We also provide a third or SAGE 3 group experience as well for those desiring to continue their treatment experience and advancement. Our complete program is broken down as follows:

Sex Addiction Group Education 1 (SAGE 1)

Duration: This group meets once per week for 90 minutes for a 20-week period.

Date: Groups take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Cost: $45 dollars per group plus the cost of a workbook which is $35

This group addresses the first seven Tasks of the 30 Task Model:

Break Through Denial
Understand Addictive Illness and Sexual Addiction Component
Surrender to the Process
Limit Damage from Behavior
Establish Sobriety
Ensure Physical Integrity
Participate in a Culture of Support

Sex Addiction Group Education 2 (SAGE 2)

Duration: This group meets once per week for 90 minutes for a 30-week period.

Date: Groups take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Cost: $45 dollars per group plus the cost of a workbook which is $30

This group addresses tasks 8-13 of the 30 Task Model, otherwise known as the Internal Tasks:

Understand Multiple Addictions and Sobriety
Acknowledge Cycles of Abuse
Reduce Shame
Restructuring Relationship with Self
Grieve Losses
Closure and Resolution by Taking Responsibility

Sex Addiction Group Education 3 (SAGE 3)

Duration: This group meets once per week for 90 minutes for a 30-week period.

Date: Groups take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Cost: $45 dollars per group plus the cost of a workbook which is $34

This group addresses tasks 14-19, otherwise known as the External Tasks:

Restore Financial Viability
Restore Meaningful Work
Create Lifestyle Balance
Build Supportive Personal Relationships
Establish Health, Exercise, and Nutrition Patterns
Develop a Spiritual Life

Sex Addiction Group Education (SAGE 4)

This group has not been created at this point. The workbook by Patrick Carnes is currently being written and once available, a group will be created. This group will address the remaining tasks 20-30, focusing on family recovery.
