Lee Perry, LCSW

321

Lee Perry is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 15 years of experience in individual, family, and group therapy settings. Before moving into private practice, Lee acted as the clinical director for two mental health facilities, supervising teams of therapists and student interns.

Lee has always been interested in helping people heal and improve from whatever condition they are suffering. Starting at a young age, he visited the residents of a retirement home where his mother worked. He joined the United States Marine Corps out of high school, and after 8 years in the Marines he left to pursue an education. He volunteered in the Philippines for 2 years and returned with the idea of helping others as a career.  After seeing the powerful impact of a therapist who was helping a child, he chose to become a therapist.

His greatest passion is nurturing healthy relationships, whether between members of a family or the relationship with the self. He believes in people’s inherent nobility. Everyone can reach their potential for happiness if they are willing to overcome the stumbling blocks in life. No matter their background or circumstances, people recover faster with help.

Lee has a broad range of skills in family counseling, with specialties in the following areas:

  • Marriage counseling
  • Family counseling
  • Individual counseling
  • Abuse/domestic violence
  • Anger management
  • Military-related PTSD
  • Crisis interventions
  • At-risk teens
  • Criminal and civil courts, including the Department of Corrections and the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS)

A native of Utah, he has been married for 20 years and is looking forward to 160 more. His son survived to adulthood, so he must have done something right. He loves dogs, Apple products, and spending time with family and friends. It is not uncommon to hear him singing when he is in a good mood (this may scare off small-l to medium-sized creatures).

Education

He earned his Bachelor’s at Utah Valley University, after which he went to Montana and earned his Master’s in Social Work.  He considers himself a lifelong student who is always learning, picking up new skills to help him to improve his own life and when possible the lives of those around him.

License and Certifications

Lee has an active LCSW license with the State of Utah, license # 5974695-3501. He is also a Utah Certified Domestic Violence Counselor.

Additional Training

Lee has developed and implemented many treatment programs for substance abuse, domestic violence, and anger management. These programs have been implemented in private practices and government facilities statewide. He has personally worked with a variety of individuals, from those in care of the Department of Corrections, to the homeless, to doctors and professors.
