Cheryl Kelstrom-Smith, LCSW


Cheryl Kelstrom-Smith is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in individual, couples, adolescent, child play therapy, and family therapy. She is formally trained in Substance Abuse Treatment and currently has completed formal training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In her experience with DBT she has found that this treatment works extremely well with Bipolar, PTSD, major depression and generalized anxiety as well as Borderline Personality clients. At this time she maintains a full case load and facilitates four DBT groups per week. One group is for ages 14 to 18 years old.  With over 14 years experience in the mental health field she works well with all ages, gender and background of clients. She is a graduate of the University Of Utah School Of Social Work.  She is currently a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients in Riverdale, Utah.

Cheryl has presented at local conferences and speaks to general audiences on the topics of substance abuse and other addictions, family relationships, and couples therapy. Cheryl is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support, validate clients, and express practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
